About

I began my editorial career in May 2000, and carried out freelance editorial work on a part-time basis from August 2003. I became a full-time self-employed freelancer in January 2009.

I have been an Ordinary member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders since 2007. I am a Network Member of Publishing Scotland.

Subject specialisms

I have edited and proofread publications and documents in the following specialist areas:

  • economics and politics - macroeconomics, international trade, economic risk, investment risk, current affairs
  • education - policy, strategy and subject-based documents, teachers’ and students’ support materials across all social subjects
  • English as a Foreign/Second Language - teachers’ and students’ support materials
  • healthcare - NHS reports

I have also worked on mainstream consumer titles on digital photography, world faiths, psychology and sport.

In line with my education and personal interests, I would like to work in the following areas: linguistics, sociology, travel, crafts, and environmental/green issues.
